Some foods that we eat may be to blame when we have #constipation. Feeling bloated and uncomfortable can interfere with our daily life. Try to eat these foods in moderation, and if you do eat them, pair them with fibrous foods and lots of water to counteract the constipation-causing effects
1. Alcohol
Alcohol is diuretic, if you're consistently drinking alcohol and aren’t having other fluids to keep your body hydrated, it could lead to constipation. Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated at least 8 glasses of water daily.
2. Gluten
Gluten is found in several grains, like rye, wheat, and barley, and if you happen to have an intolerance or allergy, it could lead to constipation. People with IBS may found gluten irritates their gut which can lead to diarrhea or constipation.
3. Processed Grains
Research shows that more processed grains like white bread and white pasta tend to be more constipating than whole grains (low fiber). Since the bran and germ are removed from these simple carbohydrates, they lack the fiber that helps lower the risk of constipation.
4. Milk
If you have a sensitive stomach, milk could cause constipation. Some people are more sensitive to the protein found in milk and experience constipation. If you think milk or dairy products might be causing your constipation, eliminate them for 30 days and then reintroduce, seeing how your body responds.
5. Fried Foods
Fried food tends to low in fiber , but high salt and fat. Low fiber intake is associated with constipation, and eating large amounts of salt can lower the amount of water in your stool, making it harder to move things along in your digestive tract.
6. Unripe Persimmon and Bananas
Unripe or partially ripe persimmons may cause constipation since they contain high amounts of tannins, which can slow the movement of food through the intestines. And unripe bananas may also cause constipation because they contain higher levels of tannins and resistant starch, which is more difficult for the stomach to digest.
So, while constipation, it best to avoid this food yet, make sure you're eating enough fiber (more fruits, vegetables, etc), drinking plenty of water, and exercising regularly. Exercise can facilitate bowel movement and make sure to handle your stress effectively.
